Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity

The Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity has gigantic dimensions: it has a circular shape with a diameter of 125 meters without intermediate supports; it is supported by two beams of 182.5 meters, with a free span of 80 meters and a maximum height of 21.15 meters. The height of the building is 18 meters. It is entirely white and has a total of 8633 seats. The interior is divisible into two sectors by a movable wall 2 meters high. The presbytery has capacity for about 100 concelebrants.
The usable internal area of the Basilica is approximately 8450 m2, with an average ceiling height of approximately 15.2 m and its enormous volume is approximately 128018 m3.
Main materials: mixed masonry, limestone (branco de mar) stonework, ataíja stone, wood, upholstered chairs, Akustaplan, translucent acoustic membrane (ceiling), Helmholtz resonators, diffusers.
Measurement points and source location
The sound source was placed in the presbytery next to the altar (S1). The acoustic acquisitions and recordings were carried out in 7 locations distributed (Pos1 – Pos7) throughout the area designated for the faithful.
