Cartuxa Monastery Church
The Church of the Santa Maria Vallis Misericordiae Monastery is made up of a nave measuring 33.72 meters long by 8.85 meters wide and 15.19 meters high (internal measurements), and topped by a round arch vault. The walls of the nave are made of masonry, approximately 2 meters thick, constant throughout its height, outlined with a façade that imitates the stereotomy of the stonework, and decorated with two stonework friezes that limit the space of the windows. The natural lighting inside the Church appears through upper windows: one on the main facade of the Church, seven on the side walls of the nave (four to the east and three to the west) and one in the Chancel, (although there are two bays of windows in the Main chapel, the one on the east side is false). The chancel, or apse, rises in relation to the nave and is distinguished by a round arch and double pilasters with Corinthian capitals.
Measurement points and source location
The Cartuxa Monastery Church’s plan shows the 7 acquisition points scattered throughout the audience and the acoustic source location near the altar and in the high choir.
